PROCESS:
Now you are ready to get started. I have provided links to each inventor so you and your partner can become more familiar with each inventor (just click on each of the blue links below for three sites for each inventor). Please view all there sites, some will have links that will allow you to further develop your understanding of your inventor.
Thomas Edison Site 1 Site 2 Site 3
George Washington Carver Site 1 Site 2 Site 3
Alexander Graham Bell Site 1 Site 2 Site 3
The Wright brothers Site 1 Site 2 Site 3
After you and your partner have researched the sites, and took notes on the inventor, you will now form questions that the reporter needs to ask. Separately, you and your partner will each decided what are the most important things that should be asked of this inventor. After you each have a list, share your list with your partner and then together choose what you two feel are the 10-15 most important things that should come out in the interview. I am providing you with a link that provides examples of an interview article in a newspaper, click here . Here is also another great resource, it is how an interview article should be written, click here .
You and your partner should now be ready to create your newspaper article based upon the interview with the inventor chosen. It is now time for the reporter to do their job and ask the inventor the questions you have chosen. Remember, a good reporter makes their questions interesting, and a good interviewee makes their responses entertaining to the readers. Your article should follow the rubric we discussed in class (I have added the rubric under the "evaluation" page) and include both of your FIRST NAMES ONLY on the "by line". You will then, after I review it, publish your article for all to see (just like a real newspaper article!!!!) The article will be published at Scriblett. This is the site, that we bought a subscription to, that we reviewed in class.
You will also be making a Podcast, in addition to your newspaper article, with the reporter asking questions, and the inventor answering them. It will be like listening to the radio and the DJ interviewing your favorite singer. You will use the podcast website, which we reviewed in class, for making your podcast. Remember, speak clearly, accurately, and appropriately. When your are ready to make your podcast, please see me for the login information to the podcast site. Then click here to login and create your podcast. Remember, you need to rehearse your interview before you begin your podcast (all good actors rehearse their lines). Details for your podcast requirements are found in the rubric we discussed in class (a copy is on the "evaluation" page)
If you have any questions about KidPub or kid-cast, you need to ASK. These finished products are a large part of your grade, and they will be viewed by many people, in this school, and outside of it. Make it look the best you can.
Please note the examples of a good Podcast and a bad Podcast I have given you in class.
